Admissions Requirements
Because of the nature of its core curriculum, the Honors Tutorial College must restrict the numbers of students that it can accept each year. As a result, the admissions climate is highly competitive.

The deadline for application to the Honors Tutorial College is December 1, earlier than regular Ohio University applications. In addition to the regular OU application form, there is a supplemental HTC application which includes three essay questions. Letters of recommendation highlighting your special skills are encouraged. Also required is an official transcript from your high school and your official ACT and/or SAT reports, either on your transcript or sent directly to the University. All application materials must be received in the college office no later than December 1.
Ideal applicants will be in the top 10% of their high school class and have minimum SAT scores of 1300 and/or minimum ACT scores of 30. A final group of applicants will be invited to visit in January for personal interviews with the Director of Studies in their chosen majors.
