Parent Information
If your student is interested in the Honors Tutorial College, we urge you to consider a campus tour. You can schedule a tour online at the Ohio University Admissions site.
During your campus visit, consider meeting with the Assistant Dean of the Honors Tutorial College, Jan Hodson. Schedule an appointment by calling 740.593-2723. Prior to visiting, your student should read the HTC website thoroughly. The section describing our Programs of Study is especially important.
Our application deadline is early: December 1. New applications are available in August for downloading. We prefer that you not apply on-line. Print the application from the Ohio Univesity web site, www.ohio.edu. (For information regarding our application procedure, click here.)
We usually receive approximately 275 applications. We invite approximately 180 students to interview in January. Of those 180, we make offers of admission to approximately 80. Our incoming freshman class usually numbers approximately 60 students.
Please call our office with any questions or email the Assistant Dean at hodsonj@ohio.edu.
Scholarship Information
Once your son or daughter applies to Ohio University, they are automatically considered for scholarships offered by the university. No separate scholarship application form is necessary. Please note: There are no scholarships offered specifically to students accepted to the Honors Tutorial College. The university-wide Gateway Scholarships are tied directly to ACT/SAT test scores. For more information about these scholarships, please visit our "Scholarship Opportunities" section. Most applicants to the Honors Tutorial College take the ACT or SAT more than once in an effort to improve their scores.
Parents are urged to complete the FAFSA form every year. Don't assume that your son or daughter won't be eligible for scholarships, grants or loans. The office of financial aid must have a FAFSA form on file for your son or daughter to be eligble for any form of financial assistance. For more information on financial aid and scholarships, visit the office of financial aid's website.
